Will NOT Cover Some Dental work--Beware, January, 2020
I had to caps done on my teeth. They told it was self inflected. How can it be self inflected. I had tooth pain and careful eating until I can afford the payment the portion the insurance with not cover. They DENIED it. NEVER GET this insurance.
Dental pays out less than the premiums, November, 2019
Dental premiums under COBRA total about the same as Principal's payout limit for a year, but then they deny claims for procedures such as teeth cleaning anyway. Turns out that that one is because debridement (serious cleaning) is only allowed once per lifetime, no matter how long you've been paying premiums.

This is by far the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with in my 50 yrs. They use words like waiting period and deny ability basically if you need them they will let you down. If you are a small or large business and rely on your employees you should seek another vendor. If you need this service they will let you down so it is a waste of your money and you are doing a dishonor to the people you count on.
Dental-Not Worth It, August, 2019
Overall coverage is not worth it at all. Continue to have because it is only option through employer. Do not pay claims according to booklet/rider. Then advise that’s why everything should get a pre authorization. Took multiple calls over the course of 3 months to get a call back from specialist just for them to have a bad attitude entire call.

We had to submit power of attorney papers for our father who has had a retirement plan here for years. Took just a little while to get it done but they kept in contact and always responded promptly to our emails. They were the only one out of seven different companies who would allow us to submit our POA by email rather than Postal Service. Very convenient 👍

The worst people you will ever encounter. They will lie to your face and not help you at all. They will treat you well at the start but it's just to screw you over later. Please don't fall for it like I did.

Be careful! I tried to use my dental and one month later send me a letter saying: " we've determined the treatment is not expected to successfully correct the patient's condition for a period of at least : years"
My other insurance Delta, paid his 50%. How could you explain this? !
I called this Principal and it's a waisted time in my life.
I read the comments here and are the same problem. Somebody from the gobernemnt needs take care of this thiefs.

Had them for so long to find out that my dad is eleigble for a upgrade ON A PHONE CALL I DID. They should have called him 2 years ago about this being availbe for him so hes been paying $$$$$

Very slow in processing claims. They dont pay what is scheduled. Very hard to understand their process.very few preferred providers.

The agent I worked with Stephen Jensen, misadvised me of dates, so I missed a cutoff and was forced to by temp insurance. I specifically told him where my dr that matter most to me was and said I was covered, I was NOT. It paid over 10,000 out of pocket for out of network services in 4 months. It was the worst service and then worst coverage I have ever had.

they lied. Charged us interest for 20+ years making
policies worthless. Tried a year to get satisfaction,

They deny and underpay for any work done. I have dental insurance through these crooks from my employer. 600 annually, for 1500 max. They denied a cleaning once. I was a day earlier than 6 months. DENIED. I am emailing my admin to quit these low lifes.

I went on leave for anxiety and provided all necessary paperwork. Every week they needed additional info which I provided. After a month of the run around they denied my claim. I had no income for a month and was forced to go back to work against the advice of my doctor. I was treated like a criminal. Terrible company

This is the absolute worst company I've ever had to deal with. Had to hire an attorney to force them to pay disability claim. Cost 1/3rd of back pay. Just what people don't need when going through a difficult time. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

I am still waiting for my benefit payout since September 2016. Principal has horrible reviews and also staff that wastes your time with redundant questions so they can get you to quit and they don't have to pay. Don't quit. Google attorneys that handle claims against principal. Krista, Krystal and others there just throw you around and make you believe they are trying when they have no intentions of paying you what your policy was supposed to cover. I have filed a complaint with BBB, I encourage all to call the local news and report them. Hire the attorneys that don't take a dime up front and they will be able to get you your benefits. I have Dr notes taking me off work for 7 months and they refuse to use them. They refuse all Dr recommendations as well. This company seems to be fraud

I paid for disability insurance for over 20 years and unfortunately had to use it and they made me jump through so many hoops from tax records and the doctor statements they needed, got everything in order to them and still denied the claim TWICE even with sworn doctors statements. TOTAL SCAM Don't waste your money with Principal

I paid for my Disability policy for 7 years. Once I filed the claim I can't get any solution for over 6 months. No specific reason. Extremely rude claim rep. Once you file for the claim they treat u like a criminal. A lot of invasion of privacy and collecting your personal information which is absolutely unnecessary for your claim

Enrollment & Eligibility Poorly Executed, October, 2014
Our Company selected Principal Insurance Group as our provider for Dental and Vision coverage. We completed the enrollment materials and submitted them within the required timeframe to secure eligibility for the first of the month.
Two weeks into the month the ID cards and confirmation of the plan had not yet been received. The Regional Sales Manager kindly waived the premium for the month and the plan was implemented the third week of the month.
An employee attempted to utilize the services and unfortunately the eligibility was unable to be verified. I contacted the Regional Sales Manager and received a response that â€œWe are struggling to figure out what the issue is here with the eligibility and it has been escalated. As soon as I know more I will update you. Thank you for your patience.â€
Twenty-four hours later and multiple attempts to make phone contact with the Regional Sales Manager and I have nothing to share with my employees regarding confirmation of their eligibility.
I will not renew coverage with Principal Insurance Group.
